Last November, I told you about the rumor of Microsoft Office coming to the iPad. Well it looks like Office has been submitted for approval and should be available soon. Microsoft has been showing a beta version of the app to select outlets and one has gone public with its findings. Read on for more information on Microsoft Office for iPad and a photo of the software suite running.

According to The Daily:
A brief hands-on with a working prototype of the software revealed a number of new things. The app’s user interface is similar to the current OneNote app, but it has hints of Metro, the new design language that can be seen in Windows Phone and in the as-yet-released Windows 8 desktop operating system.
Word, Excel and PowerPoint files can be created and edited locally and online. But it’s unclear if Microsoft will support other Office apps at launch or at all.
As you're well aware, the iPad is dominating the consumer market. What you might not be aware of is how successful it has been in the corporate world; 475 companies in the Fortune 500 use iPads for business purposes. Getting a robust version of Microsoft Office on the iPad would be further solidify the iPad's dominance in the corporate space.
Keep in mind that I'm saying this as someone that loathes Office; I think it's stupid and bloated -- certainly overkill for the vast majority of people that use it. Having said that, it's still the default office suite for most businesses and I understand why it's a good choice for collaboration. I also understand that Office on the iPad will almost definitely sell like hotcakes.
Do you think that Microsoft Office for iPad will be a killer app?
