Kindle Fire Owners Happy, iPad Owners Happier

News Posted by Raymond Padilla, February 3rd, 2012

Amazon Kindle Fire owners are generally very satisfied with their tablet. They're just not as satisfied as iPad owners. That's the word according to ChangeWave Research. The company recently performed a survey of 2,607 North American consumers and came up with some fascinating numbers. Check 'em out.

Don't Worry, Be Happy.

According to ChangeWave Reasearch:

When asked how satisfied they are with their new tablet device, better than one-in-two Kindle Fire owners (54%) say they are Very Satisfied. Another 38% say they are Somewhat Satisfied.

While the 54% Very Satisfied rating for the Kindle Fire is considerably below the 74% rating of the industry leading Apple iPad, it is higher than the 49% average rating for all of the other tablet devices combined.

Surveys don't always paint an accurate picture, especially when they use highly subjective terms like "very satisfied". Having said that, ChangeWave's numbers seem about right. The Kindle Fire is a great device and offers a lot for the price. However, the overall experience just isn't as pleasant as the iPad's (yet). Given that this is Amazon's first tablet computer and Apple has had years to refine iOS for tablets, it's no surprise that iPad owners are more satisfied than Kindle Fire owners.

Any thoughts on ChangeWave's findings?
